Tamil Nesan apologizes for false report

Monday, 19/06/06 - “It is wrong to publish as news something that never happened. I on behalf of Tamil Nesan apologize for the mistake,” says Vellparari, managing editor of Tamil Nesan according to their Sunday edition.  Last Friday, Nesan reported that Klang division, headed by Alex Thiagarajan who is also vice-presidential candidate, fully support the official line-up. Alex disputed this as utter lie.

Vellpaari, taking absolute responsibility for the blunder, says that the reporter who made up the story has been suspended. “ I seek for justice” he added and did not reveal the reporters name but our sources point to the daily’s Klang reporter, Tamil Sayam'

Split in Klang Division

Monday, June 19, 2006

14 MIC Klang division delegates are openly defying Samy Vellu’s call to support his official CWC line-up. Tamil Nesan in a report today at its front page reported that 13 delegates proposed a resolution to support the President’s men. Vikneswaran, MIC youth leader, was also present at their meeting where else the division chairman and other key officials were noticeably absent.

Samy’s daily gets special access to MIC elections Committee Wednesday, 07/06/06

The contestants to MIC elections 2006 are raising questions on the impartiality of MIC elections committee that divulged information on the number of nominations received by them to Tamil Nesan, a daily owned by Samy Vellu, where his son Vell Paari is the chief editor. According to news reports, the incumbent deputy president Subramanim. S received 2 nominations where else his challenger Palanivel received 187 votes.

“Why was it not disclosed on the nomination day? And, why only to Tamil Nesan daily?”, Subra supporters are asking.

Meanwhile, Subra says that the number of nominations has no bearing on the final outcome.
